How we verify

Rules and numbers

We take rules and numbers from the governing bodies first: NCAA.org and the NCAA's legislative database, the NCAA Eligibility Center's guide for college-bound athletes, NAIA.org and NJCAA.org. For the court case we use major news coverage, such as CBS Sports. Every claim links to the page we used.

When sources disagree or we can't find an official figure, we say so instead of guessing. For example, we don't print a Division II per-sport aid table because we couldn't find a current official one online on our last check.

Scholarships

• We list an award only after loading its official page.
• We describe eligibility in the sponsor's terms as shown that day.
• We show amounts and deadlines only when the sponsor's page shows them, and we prefer the month over an exact date.
• Each listing shows the date we last checked it.
• We never list awards that charge an application fee.

Last full check

November 7, 2026. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we'll recheck it against the source.
